Louvre shutters are window shutters featuring horizontal, angled slats that give the shutter its distinctive open structure. Wood brings a warmth and character that are difficult to match with other materials — particularly suited to country-style, classic, 1930s and Mediterranean-style homes.

The angled slats filter direct sunlight without completely covering the façade, and the spacing between the slats allows you to determine exactly how much light, visibility and ventilation you wish to retain. You can use the shutters as a decorative feature on the façade or as a functional shutter with suitable fittings.

All these window shutters are made in the same style — the difference lies in the material. Wooden louvre shutters have an authentic look, whereas upvc louvre shutters imitate this with a wood-effect finish. Aluminium, on the other hand, has a modern, sleek look.

Clean the shutters regularly with a soft brush or damp cloth and check the wood for damage to the varnish or stain. Repair minor damage promptly to prevent moisture from penetrating the wood. Depending on the orientation of the façade and exposure to the elements, the shutters will require a fresh coat of varnish or stain over time.
